CRUISE IN FOR AN IMPROMPTU CAR SHOW OR JUST BRING THE MINI-VAN AND THE FAMILY

Jack Davis says he’ll have plenty of on-site parking at Maserati of Baltimore that afternoon and evening for cruise-in show cars or tailgaters outdoors. There are 60+ spaces for sunny weather conditions, and can easily accommodate have 200+ people indoors in the event of rain. Any folks who wish to bring a showcase vehicle that need to arrange indoor parking for the event should contact Jack Davis directly at mobexotics@gmail.com (especially if visiting form out of town). The party will be an informal gathering of friends and ladies Derby Hats are welcome. The facility is handicapped access friendly.

If you choose to bring an appetizer dish or beverage to share with the group in addition to your own meals, snacks or goodies we are encouraging folks to bring enough for themselves + 8-10 servings. If we have a small crowd (under 30), we’ll have enough for everyone to enjoy fully and if we have a larger crowd (50+), then we’ll do smaller appetizer portions so everyone can enjoy sharing. Regarding how to get involved as an event or media partner for the promotion of any event: if you are a small business owner and would like to set up a vendor table for the day of the event, we encourage you to contact us. It’s officially Spring in the Mid-Atlantic region and Italianizzato Club Drivers are hitting the roads to participate in special events while out and about in their East Coast communities.

The Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival has passed, having brought a welcomed pink and white blossom ribbon of color that wrapped the capital of our country in lovely spring light. Passover, Easter, and Spring Break celebrations throughout the region brought family members to and away from homes with the seasonal wave of travelers commuting via I-95, BWI, and Penn Station.

Even the daily grind of commuter traffic seems a bit friendlier due to the recent roadside green growth and annual blooming daffodil activity—bringing auto enthusiasts’ attention to upcoming rallies, car clubs, and outdoor recreational activity.

SUMMIT POINT RACEWAY SPRING OPEN HOUSE PROMISES FAMILY FUN

Sotta Sopra Restaurant offers Tax Relief to Diners on Wednesday, April 15th 2009

Friends and family of Maserati, Lamborghini, and Ferrari fans living in the Baltimore region listen up. Wednesday, April 15th is not just tax day–it ‘s a special date to visit with other Italian cuisine and Exotic car lovers while doing some Italianizzato Club good for the community.

Starting at 6:00pm, we’ll be rallying together and meeting for a special after hours tour of the “new” SoCal owned Maserati of Baltimore facility. Located at 1630 York Road in Lutherville Timonium, Maryland, hosts Jack Davis and Alfred Ramos will be giving visitors a relaxed showing of the facility.

The bewitching hour is 7:00pm, when guests can elect to car pool or caravan down the I-83 corridor for a sunset rally through the colors of spring, leading down to historic Old Baltimore. There, participants will meet-up at Sotta Sopra “Cucina Italiana” for a very special tax day treat: DOLLAR PASTA NIGHT.

La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse to Deliver Elegant Event for Car Owners and Enthusiasts

“Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course to Once Again Host Monterey Car Week Event on Greens”

AUBURN, WASHINGTON. (March 05, 2009) – La Dolce Vita-Automobili at Black Horse will be held Friday, August 14, 2009 on the Monterey Peninsula in Northern California. Founding Partner Kerry McMullen shares, “When we learned a former Italian car event was no longer going to be held at this incredible site, we immediately approached the owners who were excited to host a quality event”.

La Dolce Vita promises a “back to our roots” approach to displaying Italian cars and motorcycles on the green. “This will be an enthusiast’s event organized by enthusiasts”, notes Founding Partner Jerry Kaye. McMullen and Kaye formed Monterey Bay Concours LLC and established La Dolce Vita in an effort to share their passion for Italian cars with others and to create a comfortable “car guy” environment that is owner-centric.

McMullen is President and CEO of MIE Corporation, the largest Maserati parts supply and technical network in the world. He also operates Maserati Club International with 2000 members worldwide. Kaye is no stranger to Italian car events and is a Founding Partner of La Belle Macchine d’ Italia. Held each year in the Poconos, the event attracts a large number of enthusiasts from all over the world.

Both own their fair share of Italian automotive machinery. McMullen personally owns three Maserati cars and Kaye owns a beautiful collection of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls-Royce cars. La Dolce Vita has significant support from members of the Italian car community.

To date, Alfa Romeo, Fiat/Lancia, Maserati, DeTomaso and several other Italian car clubs are excited for the new event and anxious to resume the annual trek to Black Horse. Numerous Ferrari and Lamborghini owners from around the country have expressed interest in displaying at the event as well.

Niche media partners www.VeloceToday.com, Garage Style Magazine www.myVRL.com and www.SportsCarDigest.com speak to the serious enthusiast and it is this vein that runs thick through the event. “We want car owners and enthusiasts to enjoy each other’s cars and company in a relaxed and friendly environment, this will not be a carnival”, notes McMullen.

The event is encouraging people to “come see what’s new” at Black Horse while picnicking amidst live music and chatting with old and new friends. When asked why the team chose Black Horse as the site of La Dolce Vita, Kaye observes, “Black Horse is experienced at hosting an event of this magnitude and knows how to treat car owners properly.

The venue has outstanding accessibility with multiple ingress and egress compared to most other golf courses and resorts on the peninsula”. Logistics on this scale do not come without a price tag and a great deal has been invested to assure affective parking and crowd control procedures. “We have a system in place that offers safe and secure parking for spectators that will also bring them to the main entrance in a timely fashion without aggravation”, says McMullen.

While the event is focused on Italian cars, featured marque cars from other Monterey Car Week events will be welcomed with open arms to a special display section at the event. “We want people to have choices. There are enough cars and enthusiasts on the Monterey Peninsula each August to support multiple events that will offset unbearable crowds”, says Kaye.

Friendly rates have been established for entrants and spectators and the event will admit ages 17 and under free of charge with an adult. “We are encouraging families to visit our event as it’s very important to us to foster education of and passion for automobiles with future generations”, remarks McMullen.

Sunday January 11, 2008 reserved seating for the full course menu is sold out by RSVP and pre-paid ticket confirmations. Happening from 3:00 pm – 7:oo pm “or later, depending on the fun we’re having”, says Maserati of Baltimore General Manager Jack Davis, the event will be bringing exotic car owners and fans from all across the Mid-Atlantic region to relax and network in an upscale but casual luxury lifestyle environment.

Door Tickets Remaining are First Come First Serve and guaranteed table seats are available to pre-paid guests only–but the doors to Maserati of Baltimore will be open helping raise much needed fund donations for our local volunteer fire station.

Patrons of Maserati of Baltimore who would like to attend the event for the opportunity to mingle, socialize, support the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company, and watch the Sunday FOOTBALL GAME on the big screen TV (courtest of Art Cuevas of Silver Screen & Sound) will be able to do so for a $10 per person entry fee without any dining options.

Proceeds from any “day of” non-dining walk-in ticket sales will be donated directly to the LVFC to help support our local firemen and Bellona road fire station (www.lvfc.com). If you are hesitating to commit to a four hour long meal and don’t want to miss the football game, bring your own drinks and snacks and join the fun.

If we have poor weather, everyone attending will have a raincheck [snow date] to come back for a ride in the coming weeks.” That means no sales pressure–only an opportunity to spend some quality and quantity time with the local Baltimore auto enthusiasts community. Bottom line, everyone who loves exotic cars and fine dining is welcome to stop by and relax for the afternoon and evening with the MOB EXOTICS Italianizzato club. With 2008 coming almost too quickly to a close, Maserati of Baltimore Staff and M.O.B. Exotics friends finally found a night with clear weather and organized their holiday “Ride and Dine”, this time heading out for a Holiday Light tour and a delicious late night relaxing bite at local gourmet hangout Christopher Daniel restaurant back home in Timonium, Maryland.

Breathtaking was the Word of the Night

Cold but above freezing temperatures with clear and bright quarter moon skies gave the team the perfect street conditions for an after dark rally December 30th, 2008. A long busy day helped all participants build an appetite with the two hour light tour relaxing everyone perfectly before dining at local gourmet bistro and Timonium West Padonia road casual restaurant and bar favorite Christopher Daniel (www.christopher-daniel.com).

Miracle on 34th Street Baltimore Style

Leaving from Maserati of Baltimore, the group headed down I-83 to see the twinkling and locally famous light tour in Hamden.

Residents of the 34th street area have been decorating as a group since 1947, and in 2008 the tradition did not disappoint. Affectionately known as the best “tacky light tour” in town, the neighborhood appeared as magical to local adult and child visitors as a trip to Walt Disney World–without the holiday travel headaches and for a more friendly and cost effective price (free to the public, charity and light strand donations welcomed).

Behind the Scenes in Baltimore County

Following guided routes led by long time Baltimore resident and Maserati of Baltimore Guest Services team Tom and Diane Beckman, the exotic cars from Maserati of Baltimore toured the streets and neighborhoods of Baltimore county sparkling and nice.

Thanks to all the heads up from Maserati of Baltimore clients who like to spend time on the road driving for pleasure, we were able to find some of the best decorated homes around the area off the beaten path. Maryland residents don’t play around when it comes to their Christmas lights. Despite rising energy costs through BGE, everywhere we went we saw holiday houses filled with good will, love, and festive spirit. All were lit for neighbors pleasure–with hardly a house seeming to be missing any touch of decoration on this particular star studded night.

Estate Homes Pretty as a Picture on A Cold Winter’s Night

Knowing the back roads and having mapped out a road rally tour of neighborhoods decorated in a way sure to delight, the group enjoyed viewing many new enclaves of communities around town. What was in store for drivers and passengers was a Holiday Parade of Homes; doing Maryland proud, these homeowners went all out to make sure their houses and streets look bright. Ciao New Year’s Eve in Baltimore

Celebrate the Italian in you—or your Italian spirit. Forget Lindsay Lohan, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.  This year, Baltimore rings in the New Year with more important celebrities.

Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei and Enrico Fermi—The Fathers of Science—will be at Port Discovery all day [December 31, 2008 from 10 am to 5 pm] to discuss their areas of interest. You can ask Galileo how he came to figure out that the laws of nature were mathematical—and how far was the Leaning Tower of Pisa was leaning when he was born (seeing as Pisa was his birthplace).

Now’s your chance to ask Enrico Fermi, the father of nuclear physics, how he felt about the Manhattan project, and having Fermium (Fm) named after him.  And you can ask Divinci, the first to conceptualize solar power—what he thinks of solar energy today; if, between fusing art and natural philosophy together and painting the Sistine Chapel—he ever found time to sleep; and what the heck Mona Lisa was smiling about.

After a combined silence of over 1,000 years (Leo being 556 years old now, Galileo being 444 years old, and young Enrico a mere 107 years old)… these men have a lot to say.  Some come and ask them.

And if science isn’t your thing, Maserati of Baltimore will have a spiffy new car parked in front so you can have your picture made standing along side its mechanical gorgeousness.

Giuliano Cleneza, the Baltimore Blast soccer player, will be out in the field, ready to take on the kids or teach them some mean Banana Kicks; Christopher Columbus, at a mere 555 years of age, will be on hand for photos and to explain how his lack of experience in navigation at sea almost cost him (what we learned in school as) the discovery of the Americas.

Maestro Gianni Toso, will be creating incredible glass sculptures; Francesca Legaluppi will teach kids Italian songs, tra la la la!; and Bob the Vid Tech (from Maryland Public Television) will be bringing the Vid Kid Road Show to help with the Noontime New Year’s Countdown.

And if that’s still not enough to tempt you to come to Port Discovery for New Year’s Eve… consider this.  Parents and kids can do so much together: make pasta, create Venetian masks, put together Italian flags and paint countdown numbers, or watch a Romeo and Juliet puppet show, and eat milk and cookies.  Yep.  Which brings us around to our happy milk and cookies ending to a wonderful 2008!

Noontime New Year activities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. [on December 31, 2008] and are free with Museum admission. Museum admission is $11.75 for ages 2 and up. Children under 2 and members are free.

Just ask New York fashion icon John Ashford, the womens shoe designer whose stiletto heels and sexy boots are taking the celebrity housewives and runway modeling world by storm.

Thanks to Ashford visiting the M.O.B. Exotic Car Gallery on December 5th, 2008 to conduct an evening photo shoot in the race shop after detailers and mechanics went home for the day, he was able to create the initial images to satisfy his artistic vision: a photo collection worthy of being the key feature set for his upcoming photography book publication. Maserati of Baltimore knows who their friends are when it comes to community service and we understand what it means to be a truly active part of a team of professionals serving the community.

As a newly formed organization in the region, Maserati of Baltimore and the staff of M.O.B. Exotic Car Gallery wishes to thank the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company not only for their outstanding care, concern, and involvement with the local  communities here in Northern Baltimore county, but also for the personal service they have always done for our exotic car community.

Help Right Around the Corner

Over the years, many of our local Maryland car owners and drivers have relied on the fire station in times of need. Whether coming to the rescue on the road, at home, for their businesses, or at various community fund raisers, they have been a reliable network of “men of Good Will”, there in a pinch always when the public seems to need them the most.

The Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company was established after the town’s first water main was constructed in 1909. James P. Reese, with the help of the Lutherville Community Association converted his carriage house at the corner Morris and Francke to a fire house. With the purchase of a pumper truck with hose reel LVFC was founded. Soon after, Smyth Jewelers moved into the neighborhood and the two have remained good friends ever since.

Community Service Ethics

This year, the volunteers from the Lutherville fire department came to Maserati of Baltimore’s “rescue” during the 2008 “Giving In Style” private party fund raiser hosted by Shauna and Dan Wilcox when setup staff and volunteers were delayed by rough football games, difficult practice schedules, flu bugs, and inclement weather conditions.

Jumping in to fill the staffing holes on behalf of the charitable organization, these dedicated and truly heroic service professionals helped supplement the Maserati of Baltimore Guest Services staff before, during, and after the event and to make up for time crunched or absent assistants with setup and cleanup of the dealership before and and well after closing times (into the wee hours of the mornings Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with the M.O.B. Exotics family).

Knowing how hard the group worked on local neighbor Maserati of  Baltimore’s behalf (and the Baltimore Ravens’ to help with the fund raising efforts for the Wilcox foundation), we want to be sure to give a big Italian car loving community “thank you” to these great gentlemen properly for helping make the event such a lively and lovely success for the evening.

Each year for the next three years there will be a separate and distinctive ornament-–different colors, different themes-–all acknowledging a milestone in the history of the fire fighter company.

The weather outside is frightful, but Maserati of Baltimore is so delightful. Since we’ve no place to go (and we want all commuters to arrive safely on our Baltimore and Washington DC commuter traffic roads), we’re delaying the start of the Fashion Show by one hour and extending the cocktail party portion of the evening to before the show.

As we all know, traffic on the beltways around the metropolitan Washington [DC] and Baltimore areas tend to move more slowly during rain or snow weather. Please drive carefully on your way to the event–and trust that with the show start set back by one hour, that arriving at a 6:30 deadline is not worth risking an accident on the road. Having a later start times also will all0w guests to have a bite of dinner before arriving for the evening, Shauna Wilcox says, “and Ruth’s Chris restaurant will be on hand with light appetizers for the crowd that’s mingling.”

The party will go tonight on as scheduled despite the rain; however, for safety reasons we have asked hosts Dan Wilcox and Shauna to limit the libations cash bar service to the earlier portion of the evening. With freezing rain on it’s way for after midnight, we’ll be limiting last call after the show and offering coffee to ensure folks will be driving safely on the roads going home.

Off of the Capital Beltway, 495, Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro host’s The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Winter Festival of Lights. The holiday drive thru display’s over a million lights!  It is open from November 28, 2008 to January 1, 2009 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. It is $5.00 per car or a multi-visit pass can be issued at $15.00 (3 visits). Make a difference and bring canned goods to help families in shelter’s around the area have a Merry Christmas!

Although in these cold months, the Chesapeake Bay isn’t able to be enjoyed in bikini’s and sunscreen, that does not mean the beauty of historic Annapolis, MD is gone until Spring. Just miles from where all midshipmen call home, Sandy Point State Park host’s their popular holiday show, “Lights on the Bay”. The show features over 70 lights and animated holiday scenes along the shore of the Chesapeake. This year, feast your eyes on the illuminated tunnels, a village modeled after Annapolis itself and an intricate display of the United States Naval Academy’s graduate’s tossing their hats. The park will hold the light show from November 21, 2008 to January 4, 2009. Cost per car is $14.00 and proceeds benefit the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation. In Gaithersburg, MD the Seneca Creek State Park hosts the Winter Lights Festival. The enchanted forest features more than 300 lit displays as well as vignettes. The 3.5 mile course leads you on twists and turns through a winter wonderland, a teddy bear land, the Victorian village as well as the North Pole. The winter lights are open Sunday to Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The admission price is $10.00 per vehicle Sunday-Thursday and $12.00 Friday-Saturday. Proceeds go to local charities.

TAKING KIDS FOR THEIR OWN RIDE OF PRIDE

That’s why Maserati of Baltimore’s General Manager Jack Davis and staff all encourage clients and community visitors to come and spend some quality respectful time in the store, and use exotic cars to help children connect the concept of hard work, personal pride, and rewards together in their own mental equations.

Since January of 2008, Jack Davis has been personally extending an invitation to all parents and children visiting Maserati of Baltimore. His deal? “Make the honor roll, bring in your report card to show us, and I’ll personally take you out for a hot lap ride in a Lamborghini or Maserati as a reward for your efforts.”

FOLLOWING THE MENTORING PHILOSOPHY

Realizing not all students will be able to naturally attain this sort of perfect academic goal (or that they already have attained it and are seeking to achieve new personally challenging goals), Jack offers parents and guardians an incentive deal for their students as well.

If, for example, kids enter into a behavior contract with their folks and bring it in to show Jack before and after mom, dad, or the adult in charge indicates students have met their goal, kids can work to “earn privileges” from the store. We even offer children discounts to specialty toy items from our boutique–along with inviting children in from the Children’s Guild to celebrate successful program graduations at the end of the summer or school year.

Asking for participation projects from learning how to wash a car to having full fledged internship opportunities, students from all background have a chance to be around and also volunteer around the cars.  Some students have volunteered as assistants at shows, others have spent the day in and around the store.

Stepping Back in Time: Jack Davis Motors Circa 1950 Inspired Many Future Motorsports Enthusiasts

Jack vividly remembers the very first Ferrari and other special high performance race cars or luxury models he ever had a chance to sit in as a child. [The first Ferrari he ever sat in was a 1960 250GT short wheel base back in 1974 on a visit with his dad to a pre-owned sports cars store in Chattanooga, Tennessee.] He also remembers his own father bringing community children into his auto dealership for special car tours back in the 1950′s and 60′s–and how much those memories have remained special for both he and those children (now grown adults) throughout the years.

Raising money for their newly founded Non-Profit organization “E.M.P.O.W.E.R.M.E.N.T. Minds“, these new local charm city stars have planned a spectacular night. Working on behalf of the foundation, the Wilcox family is striving to make a positive impact on our local world by helping underprivileged inner city children in the Baltimore community.

Vitamin Water is a generous donor; they will be providing donated refreshments to help the charity raise money throughout the evening. Leathergoods: Handbags in the City

“A lot of our clients come in just to see,” says George Sakellaris, owner of Handbags in the City in Harbor East. “They can sit down, look through magazines, see what’s going on.” And if they happen to find the perfect bag when they only meant to browse? “When you see it, you’ll know it,” he says with a laugh.

And a sticker-shock price tag quickly makes sense when a buyer weighs the quality of the item, and how long it will last. “You might spend $700 on a handbag, but you’ll love it, and instead of buying seven $100 bags, you’ll use it for five years,” Sakellaris points out. “With a good bag, you’ll get sick of it before it wears out.”

Clothiers: Ruth Shaw, INC.

Says Ray Mitchener, owner of Ruth Shaw Inc. in the Village of Cross Keys, “I say: ‘We do this show from 10 to 6 every day.’ ”He understands that a buyer might simply want one really well-made piece of clothing.

“I’m for the basics,” Mitchener says. “We send people to Target and Wal-Mart to get T-shirts.”He advises customers with limited budgets “to do the most, expensive, best-fitting jacket you can find.” He also recommends investing in pants that fit really well, preferably a gray flannel and a black pair. It’s the quality fabric and the hours and hours the designers spent tweaking the fit that make the wearer look better.

Fine Jewelry: Radcliffe Jewelers

Spending a little more lets buyers reflect their unique style, whether they’re shopping for themselves or for a gift. Nola Dobratz of Radcliffe Jewelers in Towson Town Center notes that buyers can find their own unique style because many of her pieces are one of a kind.

Customers also build a rapport with sales people, who know their style. “When something comes in and we know you’ll like it, we’ll call you,” Dobratz says. Even though she travels extensively to attend jewelry and watch shows, “we’re really shopping for our customers.”

That customer service characterizes upscale stores.

Personal Attention, Customer Service: Luxury Products Vendors Respect Discerning Buyers

Mitchener, whose Ruth Shaw store sells clothing and accessories from contemporary to designer, notes, “Any customer who is savvy and knows how to navigate the computer – they can shop anywhere.” But what keeps them coming into his store is the fresh eyes of his staff, the attention to detail and their ability to choose clothes for a customer. “Unless you’re in retail, you have no idea,” he says. “I know fit.”

Shoes and Specialty Gift Items: Sassanova

Customer service goes all the way down to a customer’s shoes – just ask Marion Greely, owner of Sassanova in Harbor East, which sells shoes and accessories. “The main thing we try to provide is the customer service you wouldn’t expect from online shopping or a large department store,” she says. It’s the job of her staff, she points out, to be of service to Sassanova’s customers.

“I think sometimes these days you don’t find that,” Greely says. “You feel like you’re putting someone out if you ask for help.” Rather than simply telling a customer they don’t have a shoe in the customer’s size, her staff will suggest other styles a customer might like – or call vendor contacts to find that shoe. “We are always happy to try and find a size for our customers,” Greely says.

Her shop doesn’t just sell shoes, it also sells small gift items, such as hand creams, fancy soaps, cashmere shrugs and men’s ties. Why? Because she recognizes that often customers are buying shoes for a special occasion – one that requires a gift – and having a selection of gift items saves them time.

“I saw that need,” Greely says. “Women would take the afternoon off to try on shoes and say, ‘I’m going to a dinner tonight, and I need a hostess gift.’ ”

Exotic Cars and Luxury Performance Automobiles: Thinking of the Customer Needs Throughout the Year

That thoughtfulness toward the customer characterizes Maserati of Baltimore.

Kae Davis, spokesperson and guest services director for the Timonium dealership, notes that all of their cars are collectibles. “They’re very rare,” she says… [making a Maserati, Ferrari, or Lamborghini the ultimate in an indulgent luxury holiday gift].

A customer who drives a Maserati out to dinner won’t want to spend the dinner worrying about what’s happening to the car in the parking lot. So Maserati of Baltimore provides its customers with a list of restaurants sensitive to those needs. They also give drivers a list of places where they can drive their cars [for pleasure (such as local race tracks or road rally routes)].

Recognizing, too, that those driving such a car are often doing so for business, the dealership sponsors charity and networking events. They also host events for those who love motor sports and premium cars because, as Davis points out, like anyone with a special interest, buyers enjoy getting to know one another.

They even sponsor events that are just plain fun. Because Maserati buyers are car buffs, the dealership invited some young car owners, those who customize their subcompacts in stunning detail, to bring their cars to a car show along with the high-end sports cars. The luxury owners ended up having a great time checking out the modifications to the subcompacts and talking with their teenage owners. “When you love cars, you love cars,” Davis says.

Buying a Luxury Holiday Gift: It’s Worth the Shopping Trip

A unique gift item is just part of the holiday fun, no matter what it is.

“We tend to carry the more fashion-forward and hard-to-get pieces, the waiting list bags that you might see the stars carrying,” says Sakellaris, whose store carries everything from handbags that start at $375 to a special-order $14,000 python or crocodile bag.

“Every time you’re in the market for a new bag, you don’t have to spend $600,” he says, “but when you’re ready for that one special bag or that one fun, fabulous piece … you need to treat yourself once in a while.”

Upscale Baltimore

Dobratz notes that Baltimore has the clientele who want fun, fabulous designer pieces, but in the past those buyers have tended to head up to New York or Philadelphia for serious shopping. But Baltimore is becoming more sophisticated, with shopping venues such as the new wing of Towson Town Center and Harbor East.

Stroll into Swarovski on the second level of Towson Town Center and for a moment, the whole world seems to shimmer in crystal. The museum-like display cases, inset into wooden walls, are fitting for pieces ranging from jewelry to martini glasses to figurines that are more like works of art than merchandise.

The second level boasts some newcomers to the Baltimore shopping scene, such as Sephora, a cosmetics store that is simply a sensory delight with its rows of seemingly endless color; Martin + Osa, whose spirited clothes for both men and women manage to be casual, comfortable and the height of fashion; and Burberry, which has been offering elegant apparel since 1856.

New Shopping Venues for a Glamorous Urban Experience

Still under construction as of press time are BCBG Max Azria, a favorite of Hollywood celebrities that sells women’s clothes and accessories; and Bose, which specializes in sound systems. A Williams Sonoma Grand Cuisine store will fill 5,000 square feet with state-of-the-art kitchen equipment, as well as the culinary classics.

Whether gift buying, or rewarding yourself for finishing the holiday shopping, adding a bit of upscale browsing is the best kind of retail therapy.

Add a Bit of Pampering to Complete the Holiday Shopping Experience

Gina Kazimir, who owns PR Right Now, a showcase public relations firm in Bel Air, says, “Although I love bargain shopping also, when it comes to cosmetics I shop the high-end stores. Luxury cosmetics feel good and last longer, in my opinion. Plus, shopping for face care and makeup at stores like Nordstrom or Field’s or Neiman Marcus creates just a little time out, just a little bit of pampering and luxury where you feel very important, very cared for, and you get a sense that what you’ve chosen is really the right thing.”

Sunday, November 16th, 2008 was a spectacular fall day for a Baltimore County Road Rally event. Meeting at Maserati of Baltimore at 10am for Cappuccino and a browse around inside the M.O.B. Exotics gallery, friends of Will Matricciani, Tony Syntax, and Jack and Kae Davis had the opportunity to relax and spend a few hours of recreation time playing in traffic together.

Watching the cars roll into the dealership this special morning was a particularly exciting event. Ferrari Club members led the line up, with an assortment of other Lamborghini Club members and Maserati friends. Into the M.O.B. Exotics mix was an assortment of unique and antique automobiles that added a sense of true “CAR GUY and CAR GIRL” passion to the collection.

Leaving out by 11am and headed to Friendly Farm restaurant in Upperco, Maryland to drive a route lovingly created by Will Matricciani and “test driven” by M.O.B. Exotics Guest Services Volunteers Tony and Pat Syntax, we targeted the drive for just enough time to allow us to make it to lunch just in time for a 12:30 reservation.

Twists and turns, opportunity to excel, gorgeous scenery, and, “lots of fun ups and downs” were the route surprises for our drive teams. Running in an easy line for all but a short mile or two of state road detour that took us along a very pretty but narrow Philpot Road, the group stayed primarily together for a very successful ride. Will took the lead in his Black Ferrari 328 and Jack Davis followed up as the “chase car” in a Red Ferrari F430.

Because the route was so well planned and so fun to drive, giving visitors to the Maryland Area a true taste of the rural beauty of Baltimore County, all the guests agreed the drive would be worth doing again. Mountiains and foliage changes each season along the route make the road views spectacular so matter what the time of year. As such, we will be aiming to make the drive again as part of the M.O.B. Exotics club at least 2 to 3 more times in the 2009 year.
